ABOUT ME
Uliana Sal is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores emotional landscapes shaped by memory, displacement, and the fragile relationship between humans and nature. Drawing from her upbringing on the Kola Peninsula in northern Russia and her current life on the Montenegrin coast, she creates imagined terrains where inner experience and physical geography merge.
Her visual language is rooted in expressive abstraction, combining layered textures with vibrant neon and fluorescent colors alongside muted natural tones. Mountains serve as a recurring motif in her practice, symbolizing permanence, transition, and the quiet tension between untouched nature and subtle human presence. Through color and gesture, Uliana constructs psychological landscapes that invite reflection on environmental responsibility and the evolving connection between people and place.
Uliana’s work has been exhibited internationally, including institutional projects such as Woman: Balancing Our World at the Museum of International Art (MoRA), New Jersey, USA, and Talents of Russia at the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. She has also participated in major international art fairs, including Spectrum Miami, and is a recipient of international juried awards from the Circle Foundation for the Arts.
Alongside her studio practice, Uliana is actively engaged in curatorial work as Chief Art Manager and Curator at Artseeker Gallery (New York). She curates exhibitions focused on contemporary narratives and emerging voices, including Feminine Energy: Resistance & Revival, and organizes gallery presentations at international art fairs such as Affordable Art Fair New York. Her curatorial approach emphasizes emotional authenticity, conceptual clarity, and meaningful dialogue between artists and audiences.
Uliana’s practice reflects a continuous dialogue between past and present landscapes — from the stark northern mountains of her childhood to the Mediterranean light of her current environment. Through abstraction, she explores the balance between permanence and change, creating works that function as spaces of contemplation, resilience, and quiet transformation.
In my abstract landscape, I explore the relationship between humans and nature, using vivid colors to emphasize
the fragility of nature and our responsibility to protect it.
